Referred to as Type 1 or MOT, this is a crushed concrete variation of the Department of Transport approved granular sub-base material. It is normally produced by recycling old concrete and a small percentage of hardcore and produces much more dust during the production process than quarried MOT Type 1 limestone rock would.
MOT Type 1 is literally crushed concrete, which meets the Department of Transport's specification for Highway Works. It can also be constructed from other hard inert material or rocks such as limestone or granite.
It can be used as a high quality fill or sub-base material, mainly in the construction of roads, driveways and car parks. It is created from a waste product such as old concrete and is today widely recognised as a Type 1 product owing to its consistency and content and remains a great hardcore for many projects and is a popular product.
It is commonly used as a replacement for limestone and granite owing to their limited availability and high costs. Crushed concrete can do the same job but are more agreeable rates. We can deliver our Type 1 crushed concrete in Surrey.
Type 2 crushed concrete in Surrey is a standard sub-base material mainly for road purposes such as filling in pot holes but it can be used for a range of other applications such as driveways, backfill material, patio areas, tracks, paths and foundations.
Like Type 1, this is crushed stone which is less than 40mm in size down to dust but with no specified grading. It does usually contain finer material than Type 1.
